i have a crimp in my fuel line where it runs along the front subframe. i think it was caused be a jackstand or something Is it feasible to cut the crimped part out and replace it with rubber line?

I've done the rubber hose repair in a pintch but I'd rather replace the whole line. If that aint feasable and the line is solid cut the bad section out and put in a new section of steel line either flairing the ends or using compression fittings.

Just my $.02 worth.

I assume we are talking about a stock(ish) system with a mechanical pump on the engine and a carb? A hunk of hose should work fine, better would be to put a small flare in the end to keep the hose and clamps from sliding off from vibration and such. Best would be to do proper repair with flare fittings and couplers. My 66 stang had hose all the way from the tank to the pump when I bought it. Now it has 3/8 brake line most of the way.

You can do a bodgy single flare with a flooring punch and a mate. He holds the line firmly while you rap the punch into the cut end, flaring it marginally.

I have had the same crimped section for about 20 years.
I replaced it with a piece of hose. I need to get under there and replace the hose again, but have been lazy since I have to drain the tank first, and my old repop tank does not have a drain plug.

kinda in the same boat,,I went to autozone and bought fuel injection line,,the kind that the outside looks like regular rubber fuel line,,,but with a funky blue rubber? inner lining on top of it,, it aint cheap at 4 bucks a foot ,,,but it's supposed to standup to any kinda gas and used it for the connections between the real lines and filter , gas tank and line to fuel pump,,,,was having issues with the rubber showing up in the filter and carb bowl,,,not any more though,,,,just an idea/thought

i really messed up the metal line from the carb to the pump a while back and have been sing that FI line instead, i guess one day i'll be motivated enough to bend up some metal tubeing but the fule injection line has been holding fine for 8,000 miles now even with the switch to E10 and flows well enough to feed the new 2bbl
