Performance Oil pan for 200?

There are such beasts. Mike with Classic Inlines had some for sale awhile back and he sold out. Seven quart capacity with a windage tray.

They come up for sale every now and then here on the forum and Fleabay.

I'm just a noob, but putting a larger higher capacity oil pan will keep the engine cooler right?

8) yes and no. what a large capacity oil pan does is allow you to hold more oil(i know duh!!  ), and that will certainly make it take longer for the oil to heat up, but in the end you will still have oil at the same operating temperature, just more of it with the larger pan. besides you want your engine oil to run at about 200 degrees so that it can burn off contaminants that get into the oil. if you are having heating issues, the first thing to do is determine of your gauge is reading correctly or not. do this by adding a good aftermarket gauge, and see what temperatures you are getting. you want one that reads in actually temp numbers, not just a printed scale like the stock gauge does.

Alright thanks! My pan is dented so was wondering i an upgrade made much of a difference.
NPD sell an oil pan which is a reproduction of the original.
If you buy one you may have to dimple the front of the pan for the double roller timing for proper clearance.

Speedway motors sells oil pan side weld on panals for extra capacity.
You will however have to make your own windage scraper & pan baffle.
