A friend and I are wanting to turbo our 300's on our trucks. We kinda have an idea on how it needs to be placed. Anyways Pictures please if you got them. Also what all does it entail on a EFI 300?

Ive been doing lots of reasearch on this the last 6 months....Ive got a turbo, setting up an EDIS, and already have EFI on my 74...

have to have a wastegate, overpressure valve (blow off vavle or BOV), some way to retard timing (im using Megasquirt II), some kind of exhaust to the turbo and from the turbo...an intercooler if running more than 6 or 7 psi for best results (or water injection, or both), bigger injectors, some gauges are nice (boost, Air/fuel), and all the piping for the intake, exhaust, oil pressure/drain for turbo, and probably something else that im forgetting. Hypereutectic Pistons, ARP rod bolts and head studs if you want greater durability.

There is a twin turbo that someone did...(unfortunately i didnt save the address) and a single turbo on a stock EFI pickup.. I believe there are a couple more, but not many. No kits readily availiable.

Im shooting for 350 hp.

Make a horsepower goal and size everything around that. (turbo, injectors,

I didn't know Westach had "Intercooler temp in/out" and "vac/boost - EGT" gauges like that!!! Those are DA BOMB!! I think I am going to have to get some, too.

Did you order yours straight from Westach??

those guges ARE very nice!...i like them..easy to read and compare.

My truck would need at least 3" exhaust after a turbo mod right?

You mean after the turbine outlet? The bigger the better!

Yeah after the turbo.

So if bigger the better, then the size of the exhaust will not play a roll anymore like it would have w/o a turbo?

Pretty much.

Naturally Aspirated = don't go too large on pipe size.
Turbo = big as you can after turbine.

whats this in? dyno numbers? 1/4 times?

Picture 26 sure looks like a 4WD Bronco to me. (spindle removed)

That's pretty close, it's an F-250. I'm not big into dyno numbers or 1/4 mile times with it, It does pull awful hard up over 2000 rpm though when the turbo spools up. Makes it hard to control the wheelspin sometimes on long climbs...
