1) Here is a diagram of how I intend to wire my DSII. I just need a sanity check to be sure that it's going to work:

I'm using the relay because I'm too chicken to tap into the wiring harness behind the dash. I know that it adds another component that could fail... but I can replace a fuse/relay easier than a 40+ year old harness. As I get more confident with my wiring/hacking skills... I'll likely ditch the relay setup.

2) Are there any existing/stock wires that need to be disconnected?

3) I'm also planning on using my Pertronix Flamethrower Coil in this setup... any problems with doing so?

As always, thank you for your sage advice!

It looks good. And does that coil take 12V or does it use the resistor wire? Make sure that you cut the resistor wire before the bullet connector on the ignition switch side of the wire. =)

As long as the voltage from the ignition switch is sufficient to energize the relay there is no need to remove the resistor.

I think that coil wants full 12 volts.

Be sure to confirm that the wire you are driving the relay with is live during cranking as as well as in the run position. If is was the wire that went to the coil before it should be because it gets its power from the other terminal on the solenoid during cranking as well as through the resistor wire. On my 66 stang it was not live during cranking. Not sure if thats normal or if I had a bad ignition switch or bad mods by previous owners. It worked when I first did the install because I left the key on run and used a remote starter. I was confused why it wouldnt start the next day. IIRC my duraspark dizzy with an HEI module and a blaster 2 coil draws around 3 amps but dont quote me on that it was a while ago that I checked it. I think I put in a 7.5 or 10 amp fuse and it has not blown yet. Its been one of the things that worked great the first time so I have never had to go back and mess with it.

That's the exact wire I'm using to trigger the relay.

Wish me luck gentlemen!!!
