Porting & Polishing Heads

I am in the process of porting and polishing my 1968 head. Now that's a fun job Question: What do you do with the thermactor bump in the exhaust ports? Just polish it out best you can or grind the thing out totally?

Any input appreciated.

Most people I know grind it out and smooth out the area. Better than having that huge bump in there blocking the port.

I think it is half and half. Half of us grind it out, half of us just smooth and polish it a little. I'm one of the later half. I only smoothed it up some, mainly because I was unaware of what it was for until after I was done.
