I recently swapped my stock 1bbl carb for 2bbl holley/weber and the stovebolt adapter and a head from a 1978 mercury zephyr. The car seems to be running pretty well. The only thing is I live on a hill and when I try to go up the hill when the engine is cold (the weather is quite warm since it is summer so it not too cool) it stumbles and I really have to ride the clutch and give it gas to get it to creep up the hill. But if the car is warm it seems to do just fine. This problem didn't exist before the swap. So my question is what prompted this new problem with the carb and head swap?
Also, I didn't have the electrical choke connected for a while and the car would sometimes idle really high at a stop light until I feather-footed the gas pedal a little bit, and then it would drop down. Then I connected the choke and it seems to have fixed that problem, but now it just has a harder time starting. So, is there any way to get away from that high idle and to have it start smoothly?
Thanks Mike
