My son and I have completed ITZOLD Mustang road roughness measurement equipment, and were now trailing the Street Bump and Seizmograph Apps for calibrating against our 10 International Ride Index (laser profilometer) calibrated sites. This allows us to calibrate suspension spring and damper rates to improve ride verses handling.
If anyone is interested in hooking up some calibrated equipement into their car, contact me via PM.
We are now off doing the off road trial of the grading schedule, a highly calibrated version of the Canadian Optigrade system. Its being hooked up into our Explorer (XPLODE)
Just have to remount the sprag clutch sensors, but the Road Roughness meter is built and is being recalibrated.I got my program 18 hours ago from the best programmer in the business, it lookes good. And I've powered up the CR1000 Campbell Scientifics for work this weekend. They've been lying forlorn since July 2010, awaiting this moment.
Our old "gran-papies axe 6.75 inch " diff bounced around like a chuck wagon over the roughest gravel road we could find. We found the axle movement specs,
and then compared them with what we got on a rough road
I can feel the rear end creating bump steer, even with really good tires, great suspension and rubber bushings. Good thing is, I can factor out what rear end roll squat is doing to the front. The Side Thrust Gauge and Street Bump can factor out the speed induced roll, as long as the rear wheels don't leave the ground.
