Push Rods...

Ok, so I just took the pistons out, and cleaned the valves, we shaved all the carbon build up off. Put everything back on, just put the head back on, and now we put the push rods back in...Now what we are wondering, is if the push rods are suppose to be tight against what it touches. Here are the pictures I just took so show you guys. The Circled area, is that suppose to be real tight? Or are the push rods suppose to be loose..?

Was the old one original, a steel shim type?
Because if so your new gasket may be thicker and not compress as much.
Since you have adjusters, it shouldn't be anything more than a lash adustment.
And you would lose a bit of compression as well.

The original was a regular gasket, kork like. Anyway, ya that would make sense, maybe it is thicker(the new one) causing it to be a little tight? Well anyway, is that bad though for those push rods to be tight against what they are touching above them? Or is it ok if it's tight.

Awesome, thank you very much for that link. So they are suppose to be pushed up agaisnt it, and then I should be able to turn it around with my thumb and for finger(which I was) and then a 1/4 turn. Very cool, thanks much
