Question about lifters

At some point during the life span of my 69 bronco, someone replaced the origional 170 w/ one from a 66 which has solid lifters, which I hate! Can I simply replace these w/ hydraulics?

8) you can put hydraulic lifter on a solid l ifter cam, but i dont recommend it. the reason is that the solid lifter cam is ground with longer opening and closing ramps to take up the lash required to prevent valve problems. thus the cam will act like it is bigger than it really is, and may cause drivability problems.

Reading an article a long time ago on a V8 build-up, I think hydralic lifters require more oil than solid ones; it may depend on the engine, too. So it may or may not be a direct replacement or cam change.
