Does anyone know if the bolt bellhousing pattern changed on a 1980 200 cubic inch motor i got from a fairmont? I am wanting to put into a 66 bronco that has original 3 speed manual. Am i in for a surprise or will it bolt right up?
Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought there were basically 3 bellhousing patterns.
1. Early "small" pattern
2. late 60's - early 80's dual drilled
3. Big Bell which is essentially 2/3rds of a SBF
If you had the engine casting number I'm sure somebody on here could confirm the bellhousing pattern on both your current block (which could be dual drilled) and the replacement block that you are looking at.
Letters on the block are D8BE 6015-GE
yes, the starter is above the oil pan gasket. I've looked at every angle and it appears it has to fit. Guess only one sure way to find out. Plan to pull the motor this weekend and hope it works. Thanks for your insight!
8) 1980 was the transition year from the high mount starter to the low mount starter. if oyu have the high mount starter you can use your bell housing with the block.
