Sunday was a sad day for an old xy fairmont wagon . It was PICK-A-PART
$20 DAY .You pay $20 up front and all bits are a $1 each after that .I saw the old xy from the road the day before but couldnt see the lights so i thought it was a xr/xt (hoping) so i wanted to check out the tail gate .I got in there and this wagon was a P.O.S rusted beyond and full of bog where the rust wasnt .I was a bit dissapointed thet i had spent $20 on having a look ,so it was time to get my money back.On taking a closer look i found some mint chrome around the rear side windows and then i lifted the bonnet ...sweet ...its a 2V six with the carb and manifold still there .I got the manifold off in quick time but the carb was rooted .In the time it took to get the manifold the car was crawling with guys ripping bits off .Some guys were talking about the head and they wanted to put it on there XY
,so as the rain came down i was out of there and left them to it .So a sad day for the xy but at least most of it is being recycled .and i got a 2V manifold in mint condition and some chrome for $23 nz ...sweet.
