Radiator hose ID size for water pump inlet on '74 250?

Can anyone with a 250 tell me what ID hose they used for their water pump inlet?

I thought it was 2" and I ordered a 2" ID flex hose but it seems slightly loose. I have a Chilton's manual for the original donor car (a '74 Maverick) but it doesn't mention the radiator hose size.

The lower radiator hose at the water pump is 1-3/4 in. x 1-1/2 in. at radiator.
