Radiator Overflow Tank

Yah i think if your careful you'd be fine with a old glass coke bottle. I use to try to shatter those on trees in my woods when i found them. it never worked and i had a decent arm even back then. Then again vibrations and throwing a bottle are 2 different things.

I would go with the other 2 though a plastic juice bottle or a plastic 20 oz bottle would probably be safer...

Ahhh, OK I missed the Coke bottle part of the post. Heh, it might hold up fine unless something hits it really hard. I can remember shooting at those old Coke bottles with a BB gun when I was a kid. We usually would look for something else, because the BB's usually just bounced off!

Yep i use to do that too i had a air gun that shot 755 fps and they use to bounce off with bb's.

I put a large hose clamp about the mid sction of the container and through a slot in my radiator's frame. I also added a zip tie to the back side to keep it pinned up to the frame.

I checked there and on my radiator I only have a pace at the top or bottom at which I could that so I was thinking of drilling a hole through the clamp and into the metal right next to the radiator.

We used to make catch cans and overflow tanks from PVC pipe. Use the heavy stuff. 4" pipe about 12" long give you plenty of capacity. Glue a cap onto the bottom end, drill and tap for a 1/4" barb fitting. On the top, use a screw on cap, drill and tap for another barb fitting. Paint and clamp into place.

Run the radiator overflow to the bottom fitting. Run the top fitting to someplace under the car. Make sure you use a cap designed for an overflow tank. The stock one will not work properly.

You should be able to do this for under $10.
