i am in search of a good used radiator for my 64 ford pickup. it has the 223 inline 6 in it.

are your tanks in decent shape? if so, the cost to have it re-cored might be close to the price to buy a used one, and then have it go to hell in a short period of time, and then need to find another used one.

i'd stick with a new recore, or a new radiator... cheap insurance against failure and most shops warantee thier core work for a decent period of time

Howdy! I'm new to the board....own a '55 F-100 panel delivery with a 223...3 onna tree.
Did you ever find that radiator? Ford used that same 6 cyl. radiator from '53 to 68 or so (according to an old radiator shop guy who sold me one cheap some moons ago)
I've got a re-cored one I'd be willin' to let go of.......

ya i have found one. it's was out of a 57-60 ford f-100. had to make a couple of brackets for it cause the rad wasn't wide enough. but other than that it works great. what do you want for your recored one?

I'm on the West Coast 80 miles south of the Oregon border on Humboldt Bay in Eureka, Cal'a. Sure you can't find one closer to the Twin Cities? or maybe across the line in Eau Claire? (probably be full of cheese..)
There's some dents here and there but they're small ones, a bit of surface rust through the black paint. It ain't fresh out of the radiator shop,
been sittin' in my garage, but the paint's still glossy and it hasn't been run in any rig yet. Oh, and the overflow tube needs to be redone
I'd have to get at least what the re-core cost plus crate & shipping.
I ain't out to hose anybody on parts,.....waiting for the guy to answer the phone at the radiator shop....OK, he said it'd run $295 for the re-core.
The radiator has a 2" core, was done in San Jose by 13th St Rad. Shop about 3 yrs ago, they had it sitting around and shipped it up to me about a year and a half ago so that's where most of the dings came from. That's the outfit I just got off the phone with.
I'd estimate the crate to run $10, and UPS would charge about $35 to Farmington. Charges change depending on location. (That's a basic UPS rate, individual UPS stores can tack on fees for whatever they deem worthy, $5 because the tape's too loose etc. I never did like dealing with those people) Anyway, the total looks to be $295+$35+$10= $340.
I'd knock off $20 for the shipping damage, make it $320.
If it was me needed one and lived there, I'd be checking all those old farmers with F-100s in the barn. And like the guy said, if your tanks are in good shape, you'd be mo' bettah off with a local re-core job. I've seen radiator shops clean up the tanks and polish the tops so you could shave your chinwhiskers in 'em....Them old brass tanks are pretty tough....take it in to a shop and see what they'd charge. Probably beat h*ll outta $320....
Good luck
