Hi all, I have a couple of questions about the rear cover plate for my 250. I am mating it to a manual (T5) but to not have the proper one and not sure where to get one. I do have a spare complete 250 for all these types of accessory parts, but it had an automatic trans. It has come to my attention that the one I pulled from it wont work for a manual? I am having a hard time finding one specifically for a 250. I know they are the same bellhousing pattern as a SBF, so could I just get one made for the V8?

The 250 uses the same bellhousing as the 302 V8. The V8 flywheel will also bolt to the 250 if it is zero balanced; the OEM 302 flywheel is either 28oz or 52oz weighted. Most aftermarket vendors sell a zero balanced flywheel with detachable weights.

Hope this helps.

X2 the reason you are having trouble finding a 250 manual block plate is that very few if factory 250's ever came stock with a manual trans compared to all the Auto's. So yes you sure can use a block plate from a SBF V8 also note that there were two different size flywheels as well as bell housings to correctly fit them. There are the 157 tooth flywheels & bell housings that are used in the smaller cars such as a Mustang or ?Maverick / Comet and the 164 tooth flywheel & bell housing that were used mostly in pickup trucks and also the bigger cars. Best of luck

I have one that came with my 250 out of 70 mustang manual 250 if you need one. I'm in WA

Thanks or verifying that V8 block plate will work. I will look into getting one of those, possibly one from Econoline. Also, I do already have a new 157 tooth zero balance flywheel.
