Any suggestion on how to go about replacing the rear main oil seal on a 1965 mustang I6? I am mostly looking for some do's and don'ts or if there is an easy way to do it.
According to shop manual it is possible but seems like quite a task to do the engine in the car...happen to have a Shop manual? ....Happen to have any other reason to pull the engine out...
In the past 3 years, I have rebuilt 2 motors, a 200 and a250, the 200 I used a rope seal and it leaked from day one, and so when I did the 250, I used a neoprene seal and that leaked from day one also. I used silicone in the corners both times, but I believe the reason they leaked was I didn't offset the seal a little on either. Good luck
