Recommended turbo reading?

Hudson Nut

I recently bought a '54 Hudson Jet. It has a 202 cid flathead six (3" bore and 4 3/4" stroke) in it that is begging to be turboed.I have never had a car with a turbo, but am intrigued by the idea of doing up this Hudson as a daily driver running a mild 6-8 pounds of boost. Can anyone recommend reading material with detailed info for a start to finish install? Or a good web site with the same info?

there's always Turbochargers by Hugh MacInnes
i believe that it is one of the main things recommended when planning a turbo build

Like Asa67 said, turbochargers is a good book that was written quite a while ago. It covers carb applications and water injection and such. maximum boost by Corky Bell is another good book that mainly deals with newer fuel injection engines, but it has alot of updated material, especially turbo charts. Be forewarned though, Corky thinks he knows everything there is to know about turbo's and isn't shy about his opinions. At least that's the way it came off to me. If you take everything with "a grain of salt" attitude, both books will give you plenty of good info to chew on. Happy reading :D

I really learned a lot from Maxium Boost by corkey bell. I went from knowing not much to a whole lot. You might have to read it 4 or 5 times to get all the info out of it but it is worth it. I think i am going to pick up that turbochargers book too.

Those are the two books I have. Bell's book is pretty much a treatise on how to do it whole-hog with no compromises. He greatly favors EFI (with some good reason). Lot's of good info for building your kit from scratch, and making the system work together as a whole. McInnis' book is a bit old, but has a fair amount on building a carbureted set-up. The combination of the two gives you a lot of work with.
