Reduced shank head bolt and oil passage....

I put my head back on a few days ago, and I did not use a reduced shank bolt in the oil passthrough hole.

How important is this? If I have to I guess I can put a bolt on the lathe and turn it down but that seems slightly retarded.

Im not sure where the original reduced shank bolt got off to.

motor has not been run yet, obviously.

That hole is larger, so a reduced shank bolt won't be needed.

Howdy Back Bort 62:

No need for a lathe. Back in the day, we'd just flatten one side of the shank to aid the upward flow of oil.

Equally important is a thorough cleaning of the shaft to ensure oil to the front rockers in quick order especially on cold starts.
