Hey!
I got a Mustang -68 I-6 200 cui, i've bought the Haynes rep.manual for Mustangs 64½-73 (ISBN:0856963577) and didnt find out 'til now that it only deals with the V8s  . Can you give me some nice books that deals with Fords I-6 engines esp. my 200 cui??

What you may choose, will reflect what information you need, and your personal level of experience.

The original Ford factory service manual will cover everything but is quite expensive in hardcopy; cheaper on CD but maybe not as useful when you want to jump around from one page to another looking for an answer or picture.

There is also the "Ford Falcon Six Cylinder Performance Handbook" which covers performance modifications to the same engine as in your car.

There are probably aspects of repair or performance that aren't fully covered in books:

With some processes, technology has changed such that you really need to check with manufacturers as their actual recommendations. One good example is re-boring the cylinders, where now the surface finish is required to be much smoother than 40 years ago, due to better coatings on new piston rings.

Hence, you may find a need for the internet, as well as another book or two! There are a good supply of experts on a site like this, and it's non-commercial.

Regards, Adam.

Fossil, go to your local auto parts store and tell the counter help that you would like to order a repair manual for your classic Mustang. They'll look at you funny and say something like, "it's right here." Then you just smile and say back, "Not that one."

After a minute or two of some good old fashion fun and games, tell them to look up Chilton's Ford Mustang and Cougar, 1964-1973. Haynes doesn't make one that covers the I-6. Ask me how I know.

He's in Sweden, Chris. They'll give him some really fun looks when he asks for a Chitlins manual...

Thx alot, i've ordered it from a swedish bookstore on the web for 28 $.

I second stang200- Chilton's book also covers the 200 cid a bit as well. My opinion of the haynes manuals are not all that positive.
