replacing carburator linkage

Until now I kept the original mechanical accelerator linkage mainly because of the need for a kickdown lever for the auto tranny.

Since I have the T5 manual transmission now, I want to replace the linkage with a cable set up.

I would like to verify that any system from a late 70's Ford product will work on a '66 Mustang.

Also if anybody happens to have a system that they would be willing to sell please PM me.

Thanks
Rick

Rick,

Look on ebay! I beleive that any of the 80's Mustangs pedals should work also....There are several of them on there for sale right now

The stock style cables are still available new through any auto parts store (or at least Car Quest).

I got my throttle and trans kickdown cables through a company called LOKAR. Great cable system, fully adjustable. I am a mechanic in the Air Force and while working on a Dodge, I looked at it's gas pedal, and darn it all, it is exactly what I need. It would mount up perfectly to my firewall and the rod is just the right size for my throttle cable to mount to. The only problem is that Dodge may have stopped making parts for this particular aircraft tow vehicle 10 years ago. I will do some research in the morning and let you know what I come up with. I have spent about $90 on the cables. I couldn't imagine the pedal (if still available) being much more than $30 to $40.

I'm in the process of switching over to a cable setup.
I'm going with a Lokar cable, with a 70's Maverick cable pedal assy., but the problem is the mounting bracket at the carb.
The Lokar bracket and other brackets are for Holleys, QJ, Edelbrock carbs that have the linkage on the "drivers" side. And I'm running a H/W 5200 with the throttle linkage on the "passengers" side, so I'm having to make a carb bracket. Also I'm making a kickdown assy too.
Lokar is a good product but it all depends on what carb your using.
