Replacing Coil on Performance Distributor DUI

I need to go to Autozone to get a new coil. What Chevy do I tell them to look up for the proper coil?

Vinny,probably 75-80 & try the corvette L82 engine application.

Before you put in a stock replacement i would call performance distributors & they will tell you their coil is a higher volt output than just a GM replacement coil.

Check out MSD also for their higher than stock voltage coil.

Sure the local aftermarket coils will work, but you may only have 40K volts instead of 50K volts. Bill

Autozone may have an Accel brand performance coil for that setup, too. Might make more output than OEM and probably pretty cheap.

That coil design was pretty much every 6 and 8 cylinder GM from 75-86. Was used on some models till 95. All the performance brands have a replacement. Some even have an adapter thing that fits on the cap so you can use 'external' coils if you think thats what you need.
