Any info or experience with this carburetor? Have a couple on old 1980 gm 250, so they are not the electronic e2se. They look like half a Q jet and making me courious as to their potential :?:

if it is the one i am thinking about, it looks for all the world like a Qjet that has the secondaries cast over, then i wouldnt use the carb. the reason is that it IS a Qjet that has the secondaries cast over, and as such suffered from many of the issues that the Qjet suffers from. i would rather you step up to the normal two barrel from something like a 350 chevy instead.

No- this looks like half a Q jet. it has one small primary and one large air valve secondary-a demand only secondary. I know the one your talking about and is essentially the FRONT half -the small primaries of a Q jet. This is more Like the weber progressive two barrel.
The Q jet was a versatile carb as it served on a wide spectrum of displacements. It kept getting mods in an effort to meet emissions standards making it harder to tune.

hmm, i have no experience with the carb you describe. do you have more than one? it might be an interesting carb to play with.

Have two on parked 1980 GM 250 CI pickups--Both engines usable-- but trucks rusted out. Really don't want to rob parts without a plan. Carb kits plentiful and gotta think maybe some common parts with the Q Jet as far as power valve springs and jets. The Edelbrock reincarnation of the Q Jet makes some of these parts available again + several old carbs off and on engines that I've accumulated. Anyway :P
