Rocker assembly order

Being the brilliant American male I am, I like to drink beer while working on stuff in the garage. Last Saturday after several pints I decided to strip down my rocker assembly to clean and rebuild it for my 200 motor. Of course, my mind clouded by malted barley and hops, I tore it apart without keeping the rockers in order and just threw it in a tank of diesel fuel to soak. Do they go on in a certain order, or am I OK jut assembling it correctly with them in any random configuration? I noticed the hardened faces they put on the tips that contact the valves are not on center. Is this intentional or just a result of loose quality control on a mass produced part? Are they like that because they need to go on a certain way? Please help this festive drunk solve his self-inflicted rocker conundrum.

Sorry I don't know any of the answers to your questions...but if you bring yourself back to the same inebriated state, the magic rocker order will come back to you.

Yeah, I just watched Beerfest.

as i recall the rockers are all the same, so they can go back together in any order.

the rocker face should not hit the center of the valve stem until it gets to around 1/2 way open. this is done to minimize valve guide wear due to side loads.

Turns out I took a picture of the setup on my camera phone and forgot about it. Wonder why? For future reference, the rockers DO have a specific order, somewhat. 6 of them have the hardened pad off to the right, and the other 6 off to the left. When assembled, the pads point inward toward each of the 6 (7?) mounting posts. So the order would be from left to right and the pads at the top: rocker w/ right pad, post, rocker w/ left pad, spring, r w/ rp, post, r w/ lp, spring and so on. If you just put them on in no particular order, you'll wear out the rocker fairly quick if the hardened pad is on the wrong side and the softer metal is what actually makes contact with the valve. Keep that in mind and if you drink while tinkerin', take pictures!

Too often I put an important component "in a safe place" (sober), and then more time passes than anticipated and I know I put it "somewhere safe - but where?", My wife found a set of bearing races I left in the kitchen freezer to shrink ... "for a few hours".
