Ok, had my machine shop price a full build.

Block cleaned, bored 52 thou, honed, new cam bearings, new welsh plugs, and deck trued.
Head trued, new valve guides, new valve seat inserts, new stainless oversize vlaves, port and polish, 3 angle valve job and clean up of the chamber.
Crank crack tested, re-ground, chamfered and balanced.
305 chev aftermarket forged rods and pistons for 8:1 comp
All bearings, seals and gaskets to suit

This came to $3200.

I know this is a good price but was wondering if the 4.0L OHC rods with prep and arp's could handle 500hp at the crank? This would be cheaper and also cheaper for the piston I would imagine

Anyone know what they can handle. Not planing to turn over 5500RPM if i can help it

Sounds cheap by Sinney prices! Haven't a clue on the rods, but seems you'll do well otherwise on price.

Cheers, Adam.

ive been told the TRW E series (ea-el ohc 4.0) rods are pretty strong and will handle the power u want to achive and no mods to fit...thats what im going when my 1st motor dies under boost :D

those prices u got seem pretty good for the work involved, just depends how much you wanna spend i guess

Yeah I know those prices are good, me and my old man are both mechanics and we know the blokes at the machine shop pretty well, dads been dealing with em for nearly 20 years. Just a dollar saved in prep and bottom end is a dollar spent on boost and management, also I'm currently undergoing an almost ground up build on my ute and it all costs
