Been hanging round here for a while now and have not heard that a roller cam is offered by anybody, do any roller tappets even fit?
Im intrested in one for the same reason Ford started using them in the 5.0

Two things prevent you from using a roller cam in a small Ford six. First is the lack of cams. You would have to make one from billet and that could be pricey. More problematic is the lifter antirotation device.

Most rollers use a tie bar or crossbar to hold the lifters in place and prevent them from turning in the bore. Because of the designe of the block, you would have to cut the block open to fit something like that.

Otherwise, the lifters are fairly easy. Any roller that fits a small block ford or FE engine will fit the six.

It's well-known as a mod in Argentina, and guys here in Oz could probably pull it off, too. But you'd need to find someone who was accepting of your ambitions for the six, and took the project seriously.

Well, I am a trained machinist and tool n die man.
I'm just checking if this is reasonable or a waste of time.
Shouldn't be too hard making a billit for a cam grinder to finish.

I think the Argentinian ones use Isky roller lifters. Alex or Martín ought to be able to find some pics. You can work off a regular billet for a mild hydro roller cam, I'd expect. Or just buy an Isky one with the lifters...

Martin said he was going to try and find out how it was done, he knows of a shop that makes the cams (in Argentina)

Here are two pics,
the first one is a Falcon TC (road racing) engine 188 ci 300 hp naturally aspirated 2BBL
Note the "fasteners" on the cam side of the engine.

The other pic was taken at a shop of a very well know Argentine racer, if you look closely you'll see some cams with the "square" lobes found on roller cams.

Couldn't get the second one happening, but found some great interior shots on the club site! They used the same dash as Australia for a few years - slightly different to the US versions.
