As I am about to take out my engine for the first time, I would like to prepare myself by getting the right sealants at the time of rebuild. I have some old Permatex Blue, High Tack, and Cooper laying around in the tool chest and it looks like they dried up. I've used Permatex before like on my fuel pump but I have never rebuilt an engine before. I'm leaving in the pistons, cam, main caps, etc... since the block has been rebuilt about six years ago from the previous owner. I want to seal everything correctly and don't want to screw up, though I've done that plenty of times. I plan to buy a Clifford single out header by the end of the month and have the port divider welded into the head.
I'll be heading out to my local car part stores to find an engine stannd and some other parts. What sealants am I looking for and what sealants should I use on certain gaskets?
