Not a 4.9, I know but looking for a little input.
89 f250 460 4x4 5spd
Headers to a y into a single 3"
keep the 02 sensor, no codes
no cat, glasspack
straight out to a turn in front of the wheel
Get rid of the stock restrictions maintain decent scavenging, not looking for huge power gains but should help some, maybe even up mpg a bit. Any thoughts? Thanks, Matt.

It'll work just fine!
One 3" pipe will flow more than two 2.5".

Our Ford V10 6.8L RV has a single 3" exhaust. And it's 25 feet long too!

2 x 2.5" = 9.8 inch^2

3" = 7 inch^2

Will still work fine, however.
