so who HAS plugged the SCV hole

so, who has successfully plugged the SCV hole on the autolite 1100? I have a SCV carb on a 68 block with a 68 distributor, and I am thinking this may be the cause of my high-speed knock. There seem to be only two holes in the hole where the SCV goes - one near the front and one towards the back. Can I simply cover those with RTV or JB weld and call it good, or is there some other internal diffference that I am not noticing?

thanks,
kevin

Kevin, I installed a screw or set screw or plug into the venturi vacuum source in the passage to the venturi inside the SCV. I left the passage open for ported vacuum because I was running a mild camshaft.

If you are running a camshaft over 264 @ .050 you can use manifold vacuum for the distributor if it is a 68 or above distributor.

Hope that helps. William
