All Small Six SCV Question

This relates to all small sixes
Does anyone know what this does for the 1100 carburetor.
I have one on my 1100 and am not sure if the car needs it as it is a manual transmission. Can it simply be removed and the hole plugged or is there some magic to it's function?
What spark is it controlling? TIA

Yes, many people know lots about it. If you search SCV on this site you'll see many posts discussing every aspect of it's function, and you will probably find answers to all your questions. Look in the tech archives and articles here too. I bet there are youtube videos about it as well. Enjoy!

No pics yet, so you need to identify what part is in question and then you can get guidance. You can get in touch the Ambler Racing in the vendor section and he can get you going.

The spark control valve switches the vacuum advance only Load'O'Matic distributor advance unit between throttle bore vacuum and venturi vacuum. The Load'O'Matic system had a very major part in what made the small Ford six a legend as the slowest OHV six ever made.
The early Falcon round muffler with a 1-1/2" tail pipe was a definite contributor to making a small Ford six not be able to get out of it's own way.
I am speaking from practical experience. My only car since 1992 is powered by a 200 log head six. Previous to 1992 for 14 years my wife drove a great running 66 Mustang California emission 200 that had centrifugal and vacuum advance.
Instead of addressing this most basic of performance issue many performance parts retailers and will recommend a camshaft, header and or Weber 2V just to keep their jobs and business running.
