For Sale SOLD 170 six engine + 3 speed trans

Ford 170 six cylinder engine and three speed 2.77 transmission. Runs great, currently a fair weather daily driver in a '64 Falcon. Still in the car so you can see it run.

Doing a 302 swap but still driving the car. I can coordinate and pull sooner than later if you need it quick. It has some minor oil drips and weeps, I'd clean it up and throw gaskets and seals at it but I would (and do) drive it anywhere.

Engine has a rebuilder tag on it, not original to the '64 Falcon it's currently in. Complete air filter to oil pan, but the alternator stays with me. Lower generator bracket modified to fit both generator and alternator, upper bracket is from a '80s pickup but you can have the generator bracket and the 25A generator if you're into that sort of thing. Scoots pretty good with a 3.50:1 rear gear, also available if you could use the axle.

Block is C4DE-6015-A. Machined later '67 up style for larger 5/16" oil pump driveshaft.
Head is C6DE-6090-B.
Carb is a service replacement Holley 1940, the larger one specced for 200-300 sixes. Rebuilt about a year ago and is set up for normal ported vacuum (no spark control valve). D7JL-9510-A 7937 2284
Distributor is a GM HEI style about a year old with normal mechanical and vacuum advance, works great.

Transmission is a 1.77 three speed. No synchro in first gear, second and third are synchronized. Complete engine/trans fan to tailhousing, minus the alternator. Recent oil change with GL4.

Radiator and odds and ends available. Any six specific bits I don't need for a 302 are available if you need them.

Located in NJ 08081. $500

My friend took a video last night when I put the car in the garage.

Pulled the engine today. Broke the coolant temp sender, chain caught on it but otherwise all good and ready to go to a new home. Carb, fan, bracketry, etc. still goes with the engine. Just removed a few bits to make it easier to pull and not damage anything.

Very nice, and reasonably priced. Costs way more to overhaul one correctly these days. I recommend keeping the exhaust head pipe with the engine. Those can be tricky to fabricate, always a plus to get an engine with the correct flanged pipe and a foot of exhaust pipe.:)

Cost more for a rebuild. This would be fine with a couple gaskets and seals. Doing a 302 swap so the exhaust isn't worth much to me. Fairly not crusty as far as exhausts go. Complete exhaust available, over the axle and muffler etc. '64 style can next to 14 gallon tank. I'd imagine it fits 60-65 Falcon/Comet/Ranchero. Could use new donut gasket but otherwise fine. Ran great and averaged ~26 MPG with 3.50:1 rear. I think 3.50:1 on the small rear is less common, but this one is available.
