Alright i live in South Louisiana and have recently been having trouble with overheating. A month or two back i replaced the old 2-row with a 3-row from autozone. I also got a new thrermostat, cap, and piping. But recently in the last 2 days i have been getting way to hot driving through town. In a matter of minutes my temp. gauge is at Hot. Anyone that can help would be appreciated.

Unfortunately overheating is one of the issues with our cars. You have a good start at fixing it. Also, have you had a reverse flush done? Most shops can do this. You can do a regular flush yourself. They have flush kits at most parts stores. If you can find an acid-based flush use it. They are the best, but be careful. The fumes are toxic, and, of course acid is corrosive. If the water pump hasn't been replaced in a while I would possibly replace it. Of course that would be one of the last things I would do. Seems you've done a fair bit of work lately and might be getting frustrated, and that is just more. A fan shroud helps things out a lot. Electic fans may also help if you get a high-performance one. Also if the engine is running too rich or lean it will run hotter. Also the temp guage might be wrong! Old wiring and electrical parts are always suspect. The sending unit and guage itself could be on the blink. How long have you had the car? Has it always had this problem? Those are all avenues I'd look into. Hope this helps.

Cant help you out on this. But I have a question. Where are you in La? I used to live in Oberlin. They got 2 others on here from La too. Thad is from Vinton, and Bergerfromage is in Baton Rouge. What kind of car do you have?
