thinking of putting the intake to black or should i leave it alone what are your opinions and martin is the argi intake watercooled?

What color? That would be hard to decide. The pic has a great, simple look. I don't know if I would go with black. If I were to chose a different color other than bare, I would stick with the Ford Blue.

I can't wait to get mine. How about some details of your rebuild?

Ric.

I got my 250 2V in a 76 TD Cortina with a taller Holley a 50mm air cleaner and a 20mm adaptor plate and less than 10mm from cleaner to the underside of a flat four cylinder bonnet (no power bulge as on six Cortina presumably for clearence)
Oh I did have to shorten the brake booster to stop that big manifold from resting way to close to it (about 45 mm away now). Still theres not a great deal of room in there.
There are many who think a six wont fit under a flat four bonnet. Most of the time Im the only one who knows theres a six under there. Most of the time that is, except at the lights.

A couple of issues.

1,The Argentine2V ME and SP heads are much more compact at the intake runners than Aussie 250 2V's.

2. The Argentine/Aussie 188/221 engines are much shallower (by 1.67 inches) and the water pump sits lower so you can shove them in a Taunus/Cortina real easy without having to do the savage cuts the TC/TD/TE/TF Aussie 200/250 tall block sixes had.

My friend had a 1971 2V 250 in his 1977 TD Cortina 4 engine bay. The right hand drive booster is close, and the air cleaner didn't have a hope of fitting.

Not a problem in this one, El Toro!

i got a clearence problem like that but it is my hood i know im not going to be able to close my hood now so what im gunna have to do is put in a hood scoop of some sort just got to find a place to get one who would carry one for a fairmont or should i get the little one like they got on the funny drag cars and offset it so it alow the hood to close the scoop like this will be about in front of the passanger side but i think that will look like crap

Measure and cut the panel first, then look for a scoop that just fits. If it sweeps back to the cowl, it will actually help induction.

Hi guys,

Im currently away from Buenos Aires and from my computer too. Should be back by the end of next week.
Brian, yes, the intake is water cooled/heated. You should install a freeze plug, because it was removed for clean-up purposes. You should see the two hose fittings at the sides of the carb flange.
And I like purple too.
You should wait until you get the rest of the parts. I think you'll like the grey color I used for the intake.
Later,

Martín.
