Hi, have an XE with 4.1, just wondering when changing to electronic ignition do I have to change to a different plug or keep the same, sorry don't have what type i am running can get it tomorrow,

Open the gap to 50 thou or so. If the plug shows presently no signs of other issues, then probably keep using the same type.

all xe's had electronic ignition standard,unless some one has changed the engine to an early one or someone has put a points dizzy in the car it should already have electronic.

Your probably right sonny, awhile back i used a block from a donor car and used the head from the 4.1, had some trouble with the timing, was told that the vacuum advance on a 3.3 dizzy was different to that of the 4.1 and was given a list of casting numbers as to which was suited to a 4.1 auto

im not that sure the vacuum advance would worry you to much,who told you they were different?im pretty sure most of the plugs from supatheif,repco etc are in a packet and have xe etc on the back so they would suit electronic with alloy head.they have a short tip on the end where the later model unleaded ones have a long tip.

pretty sure it was alloy dave who posted the casting numbers would be guessing here 2003, had another user ID but due to illness and the lost of 1 leg i'am just start back can't remember my ID so starting fresh,
yea the plugs i did buy from supercheap, will be pulling them out tomorrow as i know they're pretty soothie and have a look at the length and check the gap

Hi Harry ,

I use the NGK #BP5ES Plug .or resistor type #BPR5ES these are the short reach type .

I tried the long reach #BRE527Y-11 , i think these were the late xf efi plug and fouled easily .

cant remember the casting numbers .
