i never understood speedlimiting a car at a speed like that it seems kind of pointless really. the only thing i could think of for your problem is a new computer.

Very, very simple. Warrnaty claims on local BTR transmissions. No Aussie Fords, bar the early TC's, ran constant velocity joints. The speed was limited to 180 km/h to prevent driveshaft whip taking out the mainshaft of the BTR automatic's.

The EL GT's ran carbon fibre wrapped driveshfts to reduce flexure. Since it was an expensive fix, it was seen as a politic move to just limit the peak speed. When the IRS system was introduced, the need for speed limiter stopped, but I think its still there on the BA's. The Persuit 250's got a better spec drive shaft, but I can't remember if they were speed limited or not.

Its easy to fix. You organise a pulse splitter to come into operation at a certian speed, and fool the computer into think the car is doing 90 km/h to 125 km/h from 180 to 250 km/h. All it reads is a square wave, you just have to alter the number of pulses the EEC unit sees.

Honda guys have been doing this for years on the revlimited CRX's and Type R's.
