Installing a SSBC disc brake kit. I believe I need to run a vacuum line to the power booster. Any idea where it needs to come from? Stock 200, Autolite 1100

cheers,
mrm

Intake log somewhere. Either 'T' it off where the PCV valve is, or put on a threaded bung below the carb, if your intake log has the threaded provisioning hole.

Mrm, if I may ask, Which exact kit did you buy? And what year/model car did you put it in? What did the car orignally have?

Just collecting info to help in my decision.

Convert, it's not nice to call your mustang a rust stain, it'll hurt her feelings! Where'd you get converted from? GM House of Ill Repute?

I got this kit:

Mine is a 65, 6 cylinder 200 convertible. It had drums. I've finished installing the hub/rotor/calipers on the front. The only difficult part was putting the races in. This weekend, I'll be doing the under hood stuff.

This is my car

I took of the stock 13" wheels, because they are too small for the brake kit. These wheels are 15X7 Konig Rewind Silver, with 220/60/15's on them. I think it looks pretty good.

Mrm, Thanks for the info. I have seen those wheels on a fastback and didnt like the look but on yours they look pretty good. I think the one I saw was a darker color and the wheels stood out too much. With the bright red they ballace out well.

Just for fun did you try and fit the stock wheels? With those 10.25" rotors I would think it would have to be close. Those calipers look pretty bulky. Do you have any idea what type of calipers those are? My car already has some sort of 5 lug steel wheels and stuff on it so part of the fun will be to figure out what spindles I have now. Im looking at the scarebird kit. It uses a 10ish inch rotor and a chev caliper. Before I order the brackets I was going to bring my spare tire into the parts store and see if the rotor drops in with a caliper slid on it. Because of the number of 14" 'stock' wheels out there the scarebird people said it would be best to try it, he said he has sold kits to people that were going to keep the stock wheels and never heard back.

Keep me/us posted on how the booster/master install goes and snap some pics if you can. I want to do power also but am afraid looking at the lack of detail with the kits. Reading some sites where they talk about 'other kits require modification'. From what I have deduced there is only 2 holes in the manual cars and all the power boosters have 4 holes so thats one mod. It seems like most of the 'kits' have some sort of special rod to connect to the orignal pedal. The other issue seems to be the 'stock' booster is too long to fit a dual master without denting the shock tower but the 'kit' ones are made shorter so that is not an issue. There is also somesort of plate and boot that some kits talk about. Some seem to include it and others dont.

65stang200, Maybe I had a Ford convertible?..... Naw you guessed it Im a GM guy or at least came from a Gm family. My dad (GMC/Pontiac) bought a Audi A6 because he had it with his 96 TransAm. He bought it new and it never worked right. Around that same time he let my mom buy a Concorde which she recently traded in for a Jimmy. I have had all Gm cars except for a 81 F150 that was a $500 'yard truck' with a plow on it. I have had a 73 Eldorado convertible for 10 years now. My daily driver is a 05 Hemi Magnum. The mustang is for the girlfriend, I was going to buy her a Firebird but figured she would never get to drive it (cuz i would) and she saw the stang and thought it was 'cute'. I have to admit its growing on me. I really like the 200. Im used to the caddy (8.2L/500ci) so not getting parts at the local store or big online guys is normal for me. I do compare the mustang to a small block chev motor, everyone has or makes parts you can get cheap crap all the way up to insane orignal stuff.

The ruststain refers to the rust stain I now have in my nice new driveway after the first day of working on her. From what I can tell this car was a daily (year round in MN where we love our salt) driver for a 18 year old kid that knew nothing about anything mechanical or electrical and couldnt afford to have some one work on it so it sat in a field for 3 years. It looks like a bad choke was what killed it.

That is a great kit. You didn't go wrong; however you spent way too much. www.discbrakeswap.com for half the price, plus he's a fordsix member.

Present from the wife, actually. Can't hate that. I wanted to keep everything 4 lug, as well.

also, for fordconvert, I didn't try the stock wheels. Actually, I was happy to get out of the 13"...looked too much like one of those Shriner cars you see in parades. Like a gocart wheel. I'll let you know what gives on the booster/mastercylinder. The directions talk about salvaging the rod from the old master cylinder. I'll take plenty of pictures.
