Just finished replacing the PCV valve, fuel filter, and the fuel pump. When it is cold, it runs normal. Once it warms up it randomly stalls when changing gears and coming to a stop. It is almost like the fuel is vapor locking at times. I put my hand on the fuel pump and it felt quite warm? Also, it randomly backfires thru the tailpipes when you let off the gas when cruising. I am not sure what is going on there. The motor has 1800 miles on it. Everything but the distributor (cap, rotor and wires) and carb have been replaced. The cap, rotor, and wires have less than 5K on them. I am running a pertronix module in place of the points. I just went thru the carb less than 2 years and 2k miles ago. Before then, Pony carbs rebuilt it. I am thinking of rebuilding it again just to be sure. Any idea's on what is causing my problems? The backfires are real anoying. I am worried it is going to do some damage. Any help would be appreciated.

Yes I did. It is currently set at ~15 degrees. I did adjust it and it did not change the way it runs.

8) sounds like the fuel mix is lean. make sure you are getting enough fuel to the carb.

I second rbohm's opinion, sounds like you are running too lean. Check for a vacuum leak somewhere (check your manifold vacuum).
