Starter making nosie?

I just put on new headers, the two barrel carb and Mike's DUI systems and Oh boy, the car is running super right now. Once I am done with everything I will post some pictures.

My problem is on about every 8th or 9th time I start the car, the starter is making a grinding noise. The car is a 67 Mustang, 200 6 cyl 3spd manual transmission.

I would think it was just the flywheel, but the car never made this noise before I had all these parts installed. I put a new solenoid on and moved the ground wire as well. My mechanic thinks power is being sent back to the starter some how.

Has this happened to anyone else before? Does anyone have any advice about this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does make the noise when its cold or is it after its been run for a while....
If its after the motor is warmed up your probubly experanceing heat soak of the starter ... commin with headers.... the headers let off alot of heat and it can heat soak the starter and make it sewll causing it to turn hard and grind some. if you can get a heat sheild for the starter or get a mini starter

It only makes the noise when I start the car and it oly happens once in a while. It does not continue after the car is started.
