The 2-bolt starter is from '66 and later manual cars.

Your typing can be difficult to understand.

The 3-bolt starter is for the 8 1/2" flywheel, the 2-bolt is for a 9" flywheel. The number of teeth between the flywheels are different.

I eased, not solved, the problem by replacing the split style lock washers with star washers, a thinner nut, and trimming as much excess off the stud as possible. I still have only about .030" clearance. Another thing you could do is glue two header gaskets together for a little more clearance.

that photo looks all too familiar. . . I have to remove the header to change my starter- I looked and looked for a different starter but found nothing.

You could try one of those high torque mini starters, but I think they're pretty pricy.

What starter is supposed to go on the 1965 200 manuel? Anyone know? I would REALLY appreciate it (having a lot of trouble finding the right one...) it is a 3 bolt pattern and I have a non synchro 2.77 tranny

So the 3131 is for a 67 manuel but will work on a 65 manuel tranny?
Which one is supposed to go on the 65 manuel tranny (200 cid)?
