Stock, but slowly giving in

I have a 66 mustang coupe with a 200 - 6. It is currently completely stock with the exception of pertronix igniter and a K&N air filter. I would like to make some performance upgrades but continue to enter the car in stock street driven class car shows.
Finally, my Questions
1) Is there much gain from using cliffords exhaust port divider with a stock exhaust manifold?
2) Is there a high performance transverse muffler or a setup that will work with the stock exhaust manifold?
3) What is the best carb setup that will still allow me to use the stock air cleaner assembly(with K&N filter)

Any other performance upgrades that will allow me to keep the stock look will be greatly appreciated.

Answers:

(1.)Negligible

(2.)Yes, but you will be still limited by that wheezy manifold. A single pipe V8 system ought to be cheap enough and will be up to matching future mods. Everybody will root for their favourite exhaust brands  ...

(3.)If you are prepared to butcher your air cleaner base (or a substitute), use a synchronous two barrel carb atached to the modified manifold. Do it right and almost noone will notice. Consider two trumpets for the air cleaner, like some eights had.

Cheers, Adam.

roller rockers a bigger cam porting and a exhaust manifold off a 250
