Well I finally got around to modifying my extra head. Here is what I plan on doing to this head :
Phase I: Cut off the restrictive stock log.
Phase II: Plane a weld surface and weld on bracket
Phase III: Drill and mount injector bungs for MPI.
Phase IV: Fabricate plenum with throttle body.
Phase V: Increase port size with new valves and hardened seats.

Phase I is now complete. Here are some pics:

After2

Hopefully phase II will be done soon with a little help from Mike(Azcoupe). I am getting him to trace the inlet flange on his new Al head for me.

As for Phase V I believe chevy 350 valves have the same stem size but greatly increased valve size. Any advice or comments are welcome.

that's an interesting approach, i don't think that i've seen anyone go at it like that before

Bruzer, the chevy uses 11/32 stems & the ford small six uses 5/16 stems.

You will have to look at FSPP'S website www.fordsixparts.com

Good luck on your search, William

Im looking at grinding the port passages and need to know if there is a water jacket between the intake and exhaust ports. Here is a pic of the location I am looking at:

I have thought of doing something similar. I would leav more of the wall/edge farthest from the head. Then make a full length plate to fit that would accept a number of adaptors that could be used with 1 or more 1 or 2 barrel carbs. This way you open up the log to enable porting and make log volume and carb configuration adjustable.

Upon looking at it some more and having a friend look at it the consensus is to pretty much cut as much of the "intake" meat off as I can and weld in some tubing, probably square, into the port opening to bring the flange out and give more area to install injectors. Then grind the inside flush so the flow doesn't get tripped.

I suppose I should also add onto this that I plan on turboing this motor at some point. That is the big driving factor for me to get good intake flow.
