Stock Muffler Exaust Hangers

You might want to check cj pony parts...if nothing else they've got good pics to reference (prices aren't bad either). The one you show, they also list as the correct hanger for '67. IIRC a stock '67, 6cyl is also a transverse muffler like 65-66, but versus a '65-55, on a '67 the intermediate pipe and tail pipe both connect to the same side (diff than mine). You might want to checkout one of their 'tailpipe' style hangers.

CJ Pony Parts is a great site and is actually where I bought the hanger from.
Heres a picture of the oem hanger from a 1967 shop manual

The problem with the cjponyparts hanger is that it doesn't extend the muffler out from the firewall like the stock hanger does.

I found a NOS hanger also on ebay, but i dont see the justification for paying $60 for an exhaust hanger

My car no longer has the stock hangers in place

Yeah that one sure is different looking. Have you checked out West Coast Classic Cougar Before? They've been a good source for some odd parts now and then...in fact looks like they've got one a little cheaper, but yeah even at $45 it's still not cheap (cost of most mufflers).

Of course you could go with one of the other year model (ie 64-66 or 70) style muffler hangers and modify it, or a modified universal for that matter. If you're not concerned about factory correctness, then I bet a muffler shop could fab you something close.
Good luck!
