I've got two leaks to contend with...
the first and more serious is my old Ford-O tranny. It leaked at the pan a bit since I got her, but it's only getting worse. There was no pan gasket on it when I removed the pan, so I tried just gooping it up with RTV real good when putting it back the first time. No luck....could have bet on that.
So, I went out and bought some reubberized cork gasket material and cut myself what I thought to be a pretty good gasket. I used a little bit of super grey (says tranny pans on it) on both sides of the gasket to keep it in place.
still leaking...badly.
I have not been able to find a repro gasket. What can I do fellers?
I don't think I overtightened the bolts. I just went beyond snug. SHould I crank them down? Back them off? Weld the damn thing in place? This tranny will be replaced soon, but I have to get the leak stopped until then.
My other pesky leak is from my valve cover. This was partially expected. The OZ 2502V intake runners come in contact with the edge of the valve cover at spots. I made little slits in the edge of the cover lip and bent those spots up like tabs...still fighting it.
