Stumped! Possibily solved!

Info I have from NAS Service Station manual hope it helps.
Spark Plugs Autolite BF-82
Gap .032-.036
Torque 15-20 ft. lbs.
Distributor
Point gap .025
Dwell angle 37 to 42
Condensor Capacity .21-.25 mfd.
Breaker Arm Spring Tension 17-21 oz.
Timing
3 speed 6 BTDC
Auto 12 BTDC.
Min. allowable setting is 2 BTDC
Max is 5 degrees more than recomended figure
 
getting rid of the old Load-a-Matic seems to have helped the response

Thanks for spec's bubba. If he's ever home long enough, I'll check the dwell. Your point gap listed is about the same as I found, just won't work for this one. :splat: My carb "modification" seems to be working.
 
Explorer, glad you got it going! Your experience made me remember the 61 Tbird (390) that I drove to school and for many years after. It would run excellent most of the time, than after the rubbing block of the points had wore down so much that points closed up. It would first start missing if you slowed down or turned it off was not going to start, after the first time I knew what it was so would just grab a screw driver and fix it on side of the road. Got to where could eyeball that point gap real close. Good luck
