This is what a Sun Distributor Machine looks like.
Just thought the viewers might be interested when mentioned adjusting the advance curve on a distributor.

Definitely "old school". I am glad you have one and know how to use it!

Locally there was somebody that was selling one that was a SUN but bigger than that.. I called him a couple times with no response.. He said the vacuum pump needed to have all the hoses replaced and was selling it for either somebody with an old school shop or 'man cave decoration'

And it was a green/blue color if that makes any difference..

I have 2 of them ;-)
Just to get my tester to work i had an electronic geru install new capacitors.
I just installed a tach, rather than install the D battery & wiring to fix the original tach on the testor.
Just to get the machine to work on the Dui,s or Duraspark distributors with a electronic trigger i had to get a pulse amplifier.
The old points system will work without the amplifier.
Many old testers are around, but they all need electronic work.

I updated mine with new components , no tube needed anymore , there is a guy in Michigan that is the Guru on these machines , he helped me out with an upgrade kit ,I have the info back in Pa if you need anything , but perhaps you already know him

Thanks FSD, i believe we are talking about the same guy.
I purchased my pulse amplifier from him.
I will PM you after i check from whom i purchased it from.
Are you in Tenn. just as a technichal consultant or is this move permanent??
Central Pa. is great in the summer, but the winters can be nasty.
When i was in high school & college i did a lot of distributor work with my dads floor mounted sun machine.
I still remember increasing the point spring tension & installing a foam rubber damper for the point or points arm to eliminate the harmonics.
They were steady to 8000 rpms without point bounce.
I'll be in touch. Bill
