I got a 1966 stang with a 200ci and a three speed manual shift. I looked into the T-5 once but i was wondering if anyone could refresh my memory on what is needed and if anyone has a t-5 in a 200ci could they tell me about how much performance is improved. Thanks

I also have a T5. I love it. Best upgrade I can think of. 1st gear pulls great and the 200 handles the overdrive just fine. I used the 4 cylinder T5. Gearing is just a bit lower than the V-8 tranny.

As far as the components you need for the T-5, check out the Drivetain, Wheels & Suspension discussion site on this forum. Search that topic for T-5's and you'll hit gold. An easier way would be to go to the home page and hit the link to Inline Pages and take advantage of all of Al's work on that site.

As far as the T-5 conversion itself, I think it was the best money spent on this car. The 4 cyl T-5 matches the torque of the stock 200 very well. You can dang near take off in first gear at just an idle. The only downside of the conversion is the fact that with a stock appearing shift lever, you still have long shift throws wihen compared to modern cars. But doing away with the non-synchronized 1st gear makes it all worth it.
