Yesterday I was knocking out the freeze plugs until I got to the last one in the rear of the block behind the cam (cam already removed). The pry bar got into what I thought was the cam bearing which is ok since im replacing them during the rebuild anyway. Well, im happily continuing work today, knocking out the cam bearings and I now notice that it was the bore that took the punishment from the pry bar. It appears to me with my poor eyesight that that last bore is raised a bit on the backside so it looks like the edge of a bearing. Anyway, its got a small gouge in it now. Can I just take a curved file to it and file it even with the rest of the bore? Hopefully if I can knock off the rough edge it wont harm the new bearing going in..... ?
Edit: forgot to mention this is a 1978 200CID block.
