Hi,
Whatever you do becarefull I broke the same bolt twice drilled it out the first time drilled to far the second time putting a whole in #1 cylinder. From someone who is living with a much more expensive issue now. Find someone with experience and avoid further issues.

63redtudor: I was just looking for some of those bits to see if they'd work better for me. I'm with you on the blind hole, makes me a bit paranoid.

60FALCON: Yeah I'm afraid of that happening too, I have some bit stops to help from going to deep... that is if i can drill this thing which seems impermeable! I'm going to see if i can find a shop locally who can do it.

I will keep you posted.

Hi All, not much news on the fix yet as I was unable to attend to the problem last weekend due to prior commitments. I'm attaching some pictures to see if this looks like more than a broken bolt issue. Notice the hole around the threading is not circular, where the others are (the others aren't pictured). Is this extreme corrosion? I hope these will help any additional Diagnoses of the problem
Thanks again!

i just thought of this it might not work but its worth a try take a bolt and cut the shank off it and drill out a hole the same size at the bolt your trying to get off weld it on to the bolt then get a torch and heat up the block and try to Wreck it out but thats just somthing i just came up with

or try to grinde 2 flat on to it like a box or some thing then heat the block and use a addjustapull wenck

:? Do you suppose that PO had to drill out a previous bolt, and installed a grade 8 bolt in its place? Also,if the bits that you have used have only made a small dimple in the remains of the broken bolt, were the bits sharp? Also, spinning the bits TOO fast could lead to dulling of the bit,and POSSIBLY work hardening the drilling area. You MIGHT have to anneal the bolt remains to soften it to be able to drill it out. These situations CAN drive a person to drink.BTDT.Best of luck to you.And the suggestion of a machine shop MIGHT just be the cheapest way out.If THEY go too deep and punch into the cylinder,THEY will have to buy a new block.

If you can fit a camera in there to take pictures you can fit a torch in there to blow it out. That one looks like job for the gas wrench to me.
