Good morning all. I am suspecting I am running a little too much inital advance. (pinging lightly with 93 octane) Unfortunately, my timing light is on loan, so I can't confirm. My question is how far do I need to turn the dizzy clockwise to retard a couple of degrees? Presently the VA diaphram is pointing directly at the #5 plug. engine is a 66 200, load-a-matic dizzy, petronix 1

thanks, DN

I'm not entirely sure we can tell you what plug the vac advance should point at to estimate what amount of advance you are running.

When I added the pertronix to my 200, I had to radically re-time my engine. If I remember right, I had to move the dizzy a quarter of a turn (don't remember which direction) to get the timing back to where it was before the installation. Once I saw all the problems the Pertronix (the II, the bane of many inliner's existance) was causing, I put the points back in and had to immediatly put the dizzy back where it was to set the timing right again.
