Torque converter help

Ok, I need some help and ideas. c4 tranny, 26 sline going on 81-83 200! I need the correct torque converter. How do I confirm 10.5 inch or 11.5 inch. My research tells me the 10.5 inch is the one. Will the starter match to either? if so how? Is the measuement above not the diameter of the torque converter? Any transmission experts out there, HELP!

Gonna do some guessing here.

Im assuming that the larger diameter torque converter refers to the late model big bell housing blocks that have the 4/6th of a V8 bellhousing.

If your starter is above where the oilpan bolts to the block its a small bell. If the starter mounts low down by the oil pan line it should be a big bell.

If I am correct, and it happens occasionally, the low mount starter should be the big bell block and use a 11.5" converter otherwise its a small bell block and you would use the 10.5" converter.

I would wait for someone else to confirm that before rushing off.

you will need the 10.5 inch convertor for a 6 cylinder C4
