tri carb setup...but where and how?

Mike should have his ready any time now. You can buy many used ones that come up for sale here and on ebay too. Contact Offy or Edelbrock direct. A guy on jalopyjournal.com told me he can get many older parts from old existing molds if you just call and ask.

i wish i could find a head ready for tri carb setup...ugh...

Do you want to find a head able to be modified or a head that has been modified ?.

Finding a head that has been modified will not be easy but almost any Log head can be modified. Occasionally I see them on auction sites but are usually overpriced, poorly done or questionable , bid up too high or all three.

Offy 3X1 adapters which require removing the head and modifying are available from a few vendors. Edelbrocks have not been made for many years - are very rare ($$$) as far as I know.

If you have a good running engine, you could buy another head (often sold on the forums) and have that one built so you can install it on your car. If fyou just want the "Cool Factor" it can be done inexpensively. If you want real performance you can expect to "invest" in extensive head work - OR anything in between...

Powerband 8)

Got one with the offy installed with the carbs. about 6000 miles on the head rebuild. What will you give for it?

Hey powerband how much did that cost you for them to machine that. I'm thinking about getting that done, and if not that then get it down to where I can direct-attach a 2bbl. If I put 2 2bbls on the log, and blocked off the middle hole, could I have a 2bbl feeding the front 3 and the back 3 seperately? That's kind of what I wanna do.

Well if i correctly understand what i've read about it, it runs off the middle hole unless your slamming on it. Maybe (if this will work) you could put a single barrel carb in the center (for good cruising mileage) and two double barrels on the outside for accelerating :).

OooOoOoooOOOooOOh. That's a great idea. I just wanna do something that I will be very proud of. With that kind of set up, I could even do something REALLLLLY fun, and have two accelerator pedals. I could have one that pulls teh 2bbls, and one that pulls the 1bbl with the stock linkage. I could even set up my parking brake to be a throttle or something fun like that, and have it pull hard with my hand throttle, and then cruise with my pedal and 1 bbl. That would be brutal.

Sounds interesting....a little odd and complicated though. I am thinkin about 2 of those progressive Webers mounted halfway between the old carb hole and the end of the log. Should be fairly good mileage as long as the secondaries stay closed, though I would only have one gas pedal.

I just got rid of my Offy Modified head to a member on this site. But you'll be hard pressed to find a modified head around.

That motor... I hope the closing price is still decent value. So often we seem to see thse bid up rather higher than the sum of parts.

Looks pretty ragged and just thrown togather to me. Did notice that Holley are sued as outboards and an autolite in the center. Still trying to figure out the vacuum setup of the center and the linkage on rear carb. With what I have been through the past few weeks with mine, I stay away from that one.

Well, it appears to have a complete Offy setup on it. So minimum value is that (used price) plus a core price on the motor. The centre carb presumably has an SCV; that'd be why it was kept.
a wicked camshaft rumored to be too large for the street

Good point Addo, so on second thought, I reckon I'll stand corrected. If it were local and at reasonable cost, I'd give it consideration.
